Day inLondon

Hi All...We arrived in London this morning (their time) a bit bleary eyed, but okay...needless to say, sleeping in economy pretty much is impossible. Nevertheless, we got off the plane ready to explore London. Russell, thanks so much for the express tickets that you gave us to get into town from Heathrow...awesome! So we decided to get tickets on the Big Bus Tour...the buses that go around the city either with a guided tour or with headsets. You can get off and on as you please. We covered a lot of ground...started at Paddington Station and then off to Trafalgar Square then to the National Gallery where we spend about 45 minutes seeing the works of Renoir, Gaudi, , Gaugin, Seurat, Manet and Monet to name a few...saw street performers there too...Then off to Piccadilly Circus and walking around...popped into Hamleys Toy Store which is the FAO Schwartz of London... Then we stopped for a bit to eat at a pub called The Wellington where we tried bangers and mash and fish and chips...then off to see Big Ben and the London Tower bridge and then on to a tour boat to cruise up the Thames and see more landmarks including the London Eye. We then debarked and got on the bus again and finally finished our day at Speakers Corner were we were fascinated by people literally on their soapboxes speaking very animatedly about their passions...mostly political. then now at the airport waiting for our flight to Abuja. There's loads more to tell, but must run to get on the plane, so I'll sign off for now...cheerio...Melinda...I think we did the tourist thing pretty well for only having 8 hours or so...
